MDT 2010 Beta 2.jpgNeed to push Windows 7 onto a laptop that's 3,000 miles away? Or deploy Windows Server 2008 on a server that resides in a different location? Both are possible thanks to the new Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010. We've written about MDT 2010 before, back when it was a Release Candidate, but now you can get the finished product--and still free of charge. Over at PCQuest there's a tutorial on using MDT 2010 to install Windows 7 remotely. Specifically, it explains how to leverage the Lite Touch Installation (LTI) feature, which lets you operate without having to install System Configuration Manager 2007. It's a helpful tutorial, and definitely worth checking out if you're new to MDT and/or want to get started with remote installs (which, let's face it, beats the pants off traveling from one machine/server to the next).
