If you're captaining the IT ship at a small or medium business, migrating your hearties--er, employees--to Windows 7 just got a little easier, and possibly cheaper as well.
Laplink Software, working with Microsoft and distributor Ingram Micro, recently launched the MoveNow program. Among other things, MoveNow nets you a free Laplink PCmover license when you buy Windows 7. Here's the full scoop:
The MoveNow program will launch the week of July 19 and continue through September 30, 2010. It provides a free license of PCmover Windows 7 Upgrade Assistant for each Windows 7 Upgrade Open License purchased through Ingram Micro U.S. MoveNow also provides training and evaluation licenses for systems integrators, corporate IT resellers, service teams and IT professionals.In case you're not familiar with it, PCmover automates the process of migrating data, settings, and even applications from old PC to new. It works on a per-PC basis, however, so it's not the ideal choice for enterprises. Check out CNET's review for more details. Normally, each PCmover license costs $29.95. So if you're already planning on buying Windows 7 for, say, 100 PCs, you stand to save a considerable amount of money--especially if you're able to use PCmover in lieu of a much pricier migration solution.
